Liposuction
Target Stubborn Fat and Sculpt Your Ideal Silhouette
Sometimes no matter how many times you go to the gym or how many calories you count, there are areas of your body that continue to hold onto accumulations of stubborn fat. Batash Aesthetics and Dr. Rojas offer liposuction treatments that can effectively eliminate these frustrating pockets of fat and give you the slimmer, more toned-looking body you desire.
What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgery that is done to get rid of excess fat from specific areas of your body that have not responded to diet and exercise. Liposuction can be used by both men and women to enhance the shape and proportions of their body and to reach their aesthetic goals. Liposuction is not an effective treatment to correct skin laxity, and if you already have loose skin, removing some of the underlying fat will only make matters worse. Liposuction is often used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures like a tummy tuck or thigh lift and can also be paired with treatments that tighten loose skin to provide the best results. The areas that can be treated with liposuction include:
- Stomach
- Chin and neck
- Arms
- Under the skin
- Back
- Thighs and legs
- Knees
- Mons pubis
- Love handles
- Calves and ankles
Who Is a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
Individuals who make good candidates for liposuction include:
- Men or women who are in good health, are at least 18 years old, and are non-smokers.
- Individuals who are within 30 lbs. of their ideal weight.
- People who have excess fat that has accumulated in areas that have been resistant to diet and exercise.
- Individuals with good skin elasticity.
- People who are willing to adhere to a healthy lifestyle to maintain their results.
- Women and men who understand what liposuction can and cannot do and have reasonable expectations of the results.
How Is Liposuction Performed?
The steps involved in your liposuction procedure may be different depending on the technique your surgeon is using, but the most common steps include:
Step 1
You are given some type of anesthesia, which can be localized or general and will be chosen to fit the liposuction procedure you are undergoing.
Step 2
Dr. Rojas will make small incisions near the locations targeted for liposuction and will do his best to position the incisions in areas that will be well hidden to reduce visible scarring.
Step 3
A solution that is made from a combination of saline, epinephrine, and lidocaine is injected into the treatment areas where the fat deposits will be extracted to help reduce bleeding, lessen swelling, and alleviate pain.
Step 4
A cannula, which is a straw-like medical instrument, is fed through these incisions and used to gain access to the excess fat. During a traditional liposuction treatment, the cannula is moved around to loosen up the fat deposits, and during VASER liposuction, the fat cells are shaken loose with ultrasound energy, which makes it easier to remove the unwanted fat cells and does less damage to the nearby tissues, nerves, and blood vessels.
Step 5
The fat cells that have been shaken loose are then pulled out using a special medical vacuum or through a syringe that is attached to the cannula.
Step 6
After your procedure is complete, Dr. Rojas will close your incisions, and you will be given special compression garments to put on over the treatment areas to reduce swelling bruising and to help the treated areas to heal properly so you get the best results.
Benefits
Recovery
Recovering after your liposuction procedure can take between two and six weeks depending on the technique used to remove the excess fat, the location it was removed from, and how many areas were treated.
Most people experience swelling and bruising that will gradually go away on their own, but it can take up to three months for all the swelling to subside so you can see your final results. You may have a few stitches that will require a bit of care, but you will receive special instructions regarding post-liposuction aftercare that you should follow to get the best results.
Dr. Rojos can prescribe medication that can help ease any mild to moderate pain that you may experience the first few days after your liposuction procedure, but some people have little to no pain and never need to use medication. He will monitor your healing process and clear you when you are able to return to work or your regular activities.
Results
Your liposuction results are considered permanent, and the fat cells that were eliminated will never return, but to keep the remaining fat cells from expanding, it is important to maintain a stable weight.
Many people become anxious after they have liposuction because they do not see immediate visible results, which can occur due to the natural swelling that occurs as part of your body’s natural healing response. It can also be that some of the special solution (tumescent fluid) has not completely drained from the treatment area and is adding to the swelling. As this swelling goes down, your results will become more visible, and you should be able to see that the treated areas are smoother and have more definition.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
Liposuction prices can vary depending on things like your geographic location, the provider you choose to perform your procedure, and the size and location of the areas targeted for treatment. The current national average cost for liposuction is $4,711 base and does not include fees for anesthesia, use of the facility, or other related expenses.
We can provide you with the total cost and full details of your liposuction procedure during your personal consultation, and a knowledgeable member of our team will share the details of the convenient financing options we offer that can help make your liposuction procedure affordable.

FAQs
Every surgery comes with some level of risk, and liposuction is considered a surgical procedure. Liposuction is considered safe when performed by a professional, but there are still possible complications that can occur. General anesthesia also carries its own risks, such as nausea, vomiting, and allergic reaction.
For your safety, the law prevents the removal of more than 5 liters of fat from an individual during one session. If you have more fat to remove than this, you will need to undergo two separate surgeries with a waiting period in between.
Some of the complications associated with liposuction include:
- Swelling and bruising
- Loose skin
- Uneven contouring
- Numbness
- Fat embolism
- Seroma (fluid buildup)
- Skin discoloration
- Thermal injury
- Blood clots
Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure but you might notice a few lost pounds after your procedure depending on how much fat is removed. You will have areas on your body that might look slimmer and more toned, but the number on the scale will probably not change too much. If you desire to lose a significant amount of weight, a medical weight loss program and lifestyle changes would be good options, followed by liposuction as the finishing touch.
