Thigh Lift
Reshape, Smooth, and Rejuvenate Your Thigh Contours Naturally
Individuals who have loose, hanging skin and excess fat accumulations on their thighs often experience uncomfortable chaffing or rashes and are self-conscious of their appearance in certain social situations. Batash Aesthetics and Dr. Rojas offer thigh lift surgery to correct these issues and reshape your thighs, so you feel more comfortable wearing clothing that shows your legs.
What Is Thigh Lift Surgery?
A thigh lift, or thighplasty is a surgical procedure that enhances the appearance of your legs by removing extra skin that is loose and crepey, hanging from your thighs to make them look smoother and slimmer. It is often done with liposuction to get rid of stubborn fat accumulations and leave your legs looking smoother, more proportionate, and natural-looking.
There are several techniques used to perform a thigh lift, and the one the surgeon will choose for you will depend on the extent of correction needed to accomplish the results you desire. Each technique concentrates on specific areas to remove the extra fat and remove extra skin to enhance the appearance of your thighs and alleviate discomfort.
Inner Thigh Lift
An inner thigh lift (medial) concentrates on the inside of your thighs and removes loose or sagging skin in that area. The surgeon makes an incision in the crease of your groin to remove any extra skin, then lifts, tightens, and secures the remaining skin to create a smoother and more toned look. The size of your incision will depend on how much loose skin the surgeon needs to remove. When only a small incision is needed, it is usually called a mini thigh lift, and is often called a “scarless thigh lift” because the incision is placed along a natural crease and often does not leave a visible scar line.
Extended Inner Thigh Lift
This technique begins with an inner thigh lift but uses an additional incision that runs from the groin vertically down the inside of the thigh to the knee and is used when there is a substantial amount of loose skin to remove.
Crescent Thigh Lift
A crescent thigh lift is designed to eliminate a mild to moderate amount of loose skin from the inner thigh that has developed due to aging or minor fluctuations in your weight. The surgeon makes a small incision where the top of your thigh meets your groin, removes a crescent-shaped section of extra skin and fat, and then tightens up the remaining skin, leaving your thighs looking smoother and more toned.
Outer Thigh Lift
An outer thigh lift (lateral) is often done after a major weight loss and concentrates primarily on the outside of the upper thigh. It eliminates loose skin and extra fat from the outer thigh and can sometimes extend around to the front. The skin and tissue in this area tend to be thicker, so it requires an especially skilled and experienced surgeon to achieve proportionate and natural-looking results.
360-Degree Thigh Lift
This technique is often called a spiral thigh lift and is usually done for people who have experienced a massive weight loss and are left with loose, hanging skin all around their thighs. It combines both an extended inner thigh lift and an outer thigh lift to tighten and reshape the entire thigh area, and it produces the most dramatic results.
Who Is a Candidate for a Thigh Lift?
Men and women who are candidates for thigh lift surgery may experience discomfort or skin irritation from their thighs rubbing together and may feel embarrassed about loose, sagging skin and excess fat on their thighs. You may be a good candidate for a thigh lift if you:
- Have loose or saggy skin on your inner or outer thighs.
- Have issues with chafing, skin irritation, or rashes between your thighs
- Understand what the surgery can and cannot accomplish and have realistic expectations.
- Are in good health and close to your ideal weight.
- Are free from any health conditions that would prevent you from safely undergoing surgery.
- Do not smoke or use recreational drugs.
- Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
What Is Involved in a Thigh Lift?
Every surgeon will adjust their technique to best fit the specific needs of their patient, but the most common steps used during a thigh lift include:
Step 1
You will be given anesthesia so you stay comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure.
Step 2
After the surgical area is thoroughly disinfected, Dr. Rojas will create the incisions that correspond with the type of thigh lift you are having, taking care to position them to reduce the visibility of scarring.
Step 3
If liposuction is being used to remove excess fat deposits it would be done now. This helps smooth out the thighs and to create natural-looking definition.
Step 4
Dr. Rojas will trim away any loose, excess skin and will pull the remaining skin tight and secure it in place with sutures. Your thighs will then be wrapped with sterile dressings and covered with a special compression garment that will help minimize swelling and bruising and ensure your incisions remain secure and stable while you heal.
Step 5
Thigh lift surgery is normally performed as an outpatient procedure, which means you go home the same day. Immediately after your thigh lift, you will spend some time in a special recovery area where you are monitored as you come off the anesthesia. While you are being monitored, a member of Dr. Roja’s medical team will help you get out of bed and take short walks around the room to reduce the risk of developing blood clots.
Benefits
A thigh lift can make a significant difference in your appearance and can improve mobility and alleviate discomfort. Some of the most common benefits of thigh lift surgery include:
Dr. Rojas’s surgical precision and eye for detail will give you the thigh lift results you are looking for and leave you feeling more confident about your appearance and wearing shorts or swimwear.
Recovery
Thigh lift surgery is normally done as an outpatient procedure, so you can usually go home the same day. Once you are discharged to go home, you will be given detailed aftercare instructions that you should follow carefully to make sure your recovery is free from complications and you get the best results. Full recovery can take between four and six weeks and will depend on the type of thigh lift you had and the extent of your surgery.
Most people experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort for the first few weeks, but you will be given prescription medication to help you manage. It is important that you wear your compression garment as instructed by your surgeon to help reduce swelling and keep your incisions stable while you are healing. You should continue taking easy short walks to mitigate the risk of blood clots, but strenuous activity, heavy lifting, and intense exercise should be avoided for several weeks. Full recovery after a thigh lift can take anywhere between four to eight weeks.
Results
Your thigh lift results can last for many years if you take good care of them by eating healthy and implementing clean lifestyle habits to maintain a stable weight. Unfortunately, nothing can prevent the natural progression of aging, so you may experience new skin laxity as you age, but there are several non-surgical cosmetic procedures that can correct a small amount of loose skin and refresh your results.
How Much Does Thigh Lift Surgery Cost?
Liposuction prices can vary depending on things like your geographic location, the provider you choose to perform your procedure, and the size and location of the areas targeted for treatment. The current national average cost for liposuction is $4,711 base and does not include fees for anesthesia, use of the facility, or other related expenses.
We can provide you with the total cost and full details of your liposuction procedure during your personal consultation, and a knowledgeable member of our team will share the details of the convenient financing options we offer that can help make your liposuction procedure affordable.

FAQs
Thigh lift surgery can take between 2 and 4 hours depending on the thigh lift technique used, the extent of correction needed, and if liposuction is involved. A mini thigh lift may take less time, while an extended lift or 360-degree thigh lift can take longer because a larger quantity of skin and excess tissue needs to be removed and reshaped.
A thigh lift is not designed specifically to remove cellulite, but it does enhance the shape and firmness of your thighs, so you may experience some improvement in the appearance of cellulite.
Most people can resume light activity like walking within a few days after their surgery. This means walking longer distances and not just the short walks you are taking to avoid blood clots. You need to be cleared by Dr. Rojas before participating in more strenuous exercises or heavy lifting, which normally takes between 4 and 6 weeks.
Thigh lift surgery is often combined with a tummy tuck or a Brazilian butt lift to create balanced body proportions and more dramatic results.
