Nutrition & Eating Guidelines
Return to Regular Diet (with Modifications). You’re now ready to reintroduce a regular diet. All foods are allowed; however,
portion sizes should be significantly smaller than before procedure.
Follow the 80/20 Rule. Aim to eat healthy, whole foods 80% of the time. The other 20% allows for occasional treats—balance is key.
Stay Hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Dehydration is often mistaken for hunger, so make hydration a top priority.
Eat Slowly & Mindfully. Chew thoroughly, eat slowly, and pay close attention to your body’s signals. If you feel discomfort, nausea, or excessive fullness, it could be a sign of overeating.
Listen to Your Body. Only eat when you’re truly hungry and stop when you’re satisfied—not full. It’s okay to skip a meal if you’re not hungry. The idea that you must eat breakfast is a myth; hydration in the morning is more important. If you’re not hungry, don’t force yourself to eat.

Understand “Mental Hunger”. Sometimes your stomach is full, but your brain hasn’t caught up. This is known as mental hunger. GLP-1 medications can help retrain the brain to recognize fullness. These medications are often used for the first 3 months to reestablish brain-gut signals. In moments of mental hunger, try distracting yourself:

  • Take a walk
  • Listen to music
  • Brush your teeth
  • Take a shower
  • Meditate
Measure Your Portions. A food scale is the most accurate way to measure your portions. You can also use measuring cups, the portion containers we provide to help guide serving sizes or hand test.
Practice Mindful Eating Habits. Try eating with your non-dominant hand—it naturally slows you down and promotes mindful eating.
Use Protein Drinks as a Backup. If you’re in a rush or healthy food options aren’t available, replace a meal with a high-quality protein drink.
